Picking my seats online, printing my own boarding passes, and checking my bags straight through to Germany from the local Rutland airport (RUT) was great. Just a 20 minute drive from my door, along a country road, and no more lines to wait in. Rutland to Boston for a quick lunch and a haircut, then off to Dublin for a traditional Irish Breakfast, and then to Frankfurt. Not a bad way to travel. It would have been even greater if some of my bags made it. It would have even been OK if only one bag made it. Unfortunately, it is now day two of my trip, and only one bag has even been located, and it will still be at least 24 hours before I get it. I had to go shopping for clothes, razors, toothbrush, etc yesterday. At least the bag they found has all my kiting gear. HAD all my gear. My fingers are crossed. So I'm off to Waabs tomorrow, to pick up my luggage, and chill on the Baltic Sea.
Yesterday I met Uli's parents, and her mom made a traditional Lower Franconian lunch for us with veal and pork sausage, onions, and carrots in a special broth. Today we walked around Würsburg, visited a castle and a museum, and resisted the temptation to buy stuff at the open market. Uli's parents have a wonderful house in a great location. See if you can find the local beach on google earth.
