OK, I'm going to start with day 14 & 15, and then fill in the previous days as I sort out my notes. Today we arrived in Amsterdam after driving for more than 8 hours. Uli navigated me directly to her Friend Laura's apartment on the first shot, and there was an empty parking space on the street next to the front door! Who needs GPS? I'll take a great co-pilot any day.
First order of business was a guided tour through the center of town, and then we got down to business looking for an Indonesian restaurant serving a multi-course "Rijstafel", Dutch for "rice table". Laura found one for us, and soon we were staring at lobsters in front of us, wondering if we ordered the right meal. I didn't see any rice, and there was only one course on the table. 2 hours, 20 courses, and a bowl of rice later, we were sure we ordered the right meal! A long walk home made for the perfect dessert. Photos of the meal and some of the canals are in the previous post. Tomorrow we are sailing with a friend of Laura's, but Sunday will be another tasting day. I can't wait for either!
