Dublin - Day 1

I arrived a little after 7 AM, and found this place, so I knew everything was going to be alright. . . I then set off to get a cheap used phone, and a place to repair a broken guitar. (Doesn't everyone travel with a broken guitar?) No luck with either. One shop did recommend I just smash it, and buy a new one. . . So I just gave myself a walking tour of the city and discovered the Halloween spirit is strong among the (once pagan) Dubliners. Too bad I didn't have time to pack my award winning skeleton pope costume. A couple of pubs made me stop and take pictures, but I wanted to wait until I caught up with Uli to have my first pint of guinness. I did find a hardware store with sandpaper and wood glue so I could perform my own repair. I met Uli for lunch and we had sushi at a place with a food conveyor system that made me think of the Jetsons. We did a little shopping -- I pretty much only had the clothes I was wearing -- and I almost bought some new shoes. I ended up instead with a lemon, some lettuce, gravlax, Irish brown bread, a thyme plant, and two ray wings (the fish). I figured with all those ingredients, and the glue and sandpaper I had purchased earlier, I could make shoes, but ended up with a delicious wine, onion, thyme, lemon rind poached ray wing dinner instead. And Uli topped it off with some chili pepper dark chocolate for dessert.
